Dick Kelley was a loved family member to both of us.
He was one of the main reasons we started our path into our education and knowledge of Keto and Healthy Living.
I called this blog The Dick Kelley Story because the same story plays out in millions of people in America.

SOME TRUE FACTS:

In 2020 it was estimated 34.2 million adults had been considered diabetic, and another 7.3 million adults never got diagnosed with the disease. It was estimated another 88 million people have pre diabetes.
That is 34.5 % of the US Adult Population.
661.000 Americans have Kidney Failure, and 468,000 of these people are on dialysis.
2 million people In America live with limb loss and 54 % of that is caused by Diabetes.
185,000 people In America get an amputation per year.

WARNING THE STORY IS GRAPHICAL:

THIS IS THE STORY OF DICK KELLY:

Dick Kelley was 6'6 and 400 pounds. For most of his life he was healthy however he liked to eat foods that eventually lead to his passing.

In 2015 Dick was diagnosed with Diabetes. He started to monitor his blood sugar and taking oral medications to reduce sugar.blood

Within 6 months he started losing blood circulation in his feet and that resulted in ulcers in his feet. The skin around his toes became infected, and he started have pain in his feet. At this point the Doctor gave more medications. He attempted to repair the damage to the feet with several doctors but it did not work. He had to take insulin injections 3 to 5 times per day.

In 2016 he had to have all his toes amputated on the left foot. However none of his health care providers ever discussed changing his eating habits. Dick continued with fast food, beer, soda and chips.

Doctors gave him more medications, and the disease spread to hands and other body parts. He was in and out of the hospitals, and revived warnings about Kidney failure. He started going bling in the right eye. He had high blood pressure and that lead to a stent in his heart. This also added more medications.

Medications included Insulin, High Blood Pressure, Heart, Blood thinner, Pain , and other medications.

During this time Dick also continued to smoke, and still no one discussed his food habits with him.In 2017 he had to have the right leg amputated up to the knee. By 2018 he started Dialysis.

It started as one time per week and continued till he passed away at 3 times per week.

In 2020 had to have Left Leg amputated up to the right knee. At this point in his life he lost his freedom to a wheelchair, and living in a assisted living home with a caregiver.

Dick Kelley passed away on Tuesday April 27th 2021.

WHY DOES THIS STORY HAPPENS A LOT IN AMERICA:

This is a story we hear a lot of and many people still believe that the foods we eat do not have an affect on our human bodies.  Many Doctors do not talk about food or nutrition as a cure or healing of human bodies. There is evidence the Food Pyramid we got taught in school was wrong, we have Genetically Altered many of our foods,  plus the Pollution of Mother Earth.
