Dating and Meeting People On- Line Good or Bad idea ?
I am not looking or anything but recently I have talked to several people who are meeting more and more online. I am talking about singles web pages and Craigslist and other areas online.
So recently one of my buddies meet a woman online through Craigslist. He answered an ad from a woman who was in Texas. After communicating online for about a month she actually moved from Texas to Nevada. They immediately started living with one another and things have worked out to this point as they are planning to get married.
Another young female I recently talked to is engaged to man man from Austria. They also meet online and have only meet once but have made it to the engagement stage of the relationship and are planning on marriage. Hopefully it works out for them.
I have talked to others who have meet on line and have had some good and bad stories.
So I began to wounder why so many people are meeting online ?
As a media personality I have lots of fans on many social media web pages I constantly have to have my web pages scanned for phony and fake profiles and scams. A few years ago a friend of mine got scammed thousands of dollars from fake profiles of women from overseas. I have heard many other stories of scams from people but yet many still are meeting online.
I do not know if it is a GOOD or BAD idea to meet people or end up in relationships or friendships On-Line but lets discuss some ways to verify if people are real and find out more about them before you jump in all the way.
Many singles web pages do not verify or research people that put ads on the sights.
If using a singles web page there should be some factors to consider.
Photos are not always real . Many people post fake photos on social media web pages and in singles companies on-line.
Information Provided: If there is not enough information there may be a warning sign. People should at least tell you something in profiles. Many people pay a fee to be on a singles sight so they should leave some verifying information. I realize privacy is important but you are on a singles web page so allowing some information should be provided.
Asking for Money: When someone ask for money or other things while talking to them online that is a warning sign.
Asking for to much Information to Fast: Though getting to know someone does require to release information beware of the type of information and how fast they want it.
Research Profiles: Face it profiles that show nothing are a warning sign, even though privacy is a hot topic a real person has family, friends, schooling, family, friends. employment, and extra. Profiles that only show photos and have no information are a warning sign.
THINGS YOU CAN DO TO EASE YOUR MIND AND HEART:
Background Checks: I know TRUST but face it these days running a background check may save you a lot of headaches. There are many online you can do for very cheaply.
Employment Verification: If some one owns a company or is employed you could verify this information.
School or Education: Verification of education usually is a public record.
Criminal Background: Run a criminal background online.
Search Public Records: Divorce records, bankruptcies, and other information is all public.
Drivers Licenses, Passports or other ID: You can verify these documents many of these are public records as well.
