RENO BIGHORNS vs NORTH ARIZONA SUNS
On January 5th I took my daughter Alyssa and grandson Jaycob to the Reno Bighorns vs Northern Arizona Suns game at the Reno Events Center. The players on both teams deserve a lot more fans as the arena was only about 1/3 filled but I sense that it is not the players or the team that is the problem but a long list of other issues that prevent more fans.
Reno Events Center is down rown off Center Street so first of all parking is an issue in this area. Parking in one of the casinos parking lots or paying parking fee of $10 dollars in some parking areas. The Reno Aces also have the same issue during baseball games. You might end up walking blocks in an area plagued with panhandlers, homeless and less than savory folks in the area.
The second issue is in a blog I wrote about buying tickets and added fees from the agencies used by the team.
The third issue is getting the team out in the community. How many of you know about the League, the teams, and divisions. Even I did not understand why the last quarter had 12 minutes instead of 10 like the other quarters.
Tonight the Bighorns lost 125-104. What I would love to see is more about the players, more about the team. To get people interested and more fans packed into the game you gotta reach out to the local community,
As far as the game it was entertaining my grandson had a blast and even my daughter was explaining the rules of basketball to him during the game. The Bighorn Cheerleaders and dancers made halftime and timeouts a fun time. The mascot participated with the audience and blow up thunder sticks got handed out to fans during the game.
There was food available though it was quit expensive but that is pretty normal at any stadium or sporting event. They had bounce houses, lemonade stand, and other specialties for some fans.
If you get an opportunity check out a home game says THE OUTLAW MICHEAL TOMSIK!
