Living life in an RV or Recreational Vehicle by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik

In today's society there is a trend among many types of people that are living in Recreation vehicles but the Government is attempting to stop this by passing several laws about living this type of life style.

HUD is a government agency that oversees housing and currently has passed some laws in regards to living in an RV or even a Tiny House. They have implicated some laws depending on what State and area you live in. So if your planning on living in an RV you may want to do some research on laws in your area.

It is currently estimated that about 6% of Americas population lives in what is considered an RV or Tiny House. These numbers come from several reports from various government agencies. So why are people and the government so concerned about this RV lifestyle?

There is really no good answer the Government seems to fight any idea of living off the grid or alternative lifestyles is all I can say. Seems the Government fears something from this type of life style.

So here are some reasons why people like living in RV'S:

MOBILITY: Owning an RV means you have the ability to move. Many people who live the RV life style move around the country during times where weather may not be so great. However having an RV you can move around the country. Many people have made incomes by blogging about the RV lifestyle or doing You-tubes or other social media. People also use the RV lifestyle as a way to see the Country and have a lifetime experience. Having an RV that has every comfort an apartment or a home and having the ability to move it when and where you want has some people inspired to live this type of lifestyle.

WORK: People that live an RV lifestyle come from all kinds of backgrounds and age ranges. Living this type of lifestyle opens up some self employment opportunities, or finding work at temporary jobs in State and Federal Parks or even RV Camp grounds. There are ample employment possibilities for people who live this type of lifestyle. Some people find temporary work or even travel with employers who provide an RV for the employee. If your considering this lifestyle check with web pages in your area many State and Federal Parks offer season camp hosting positions. Many people that have retired have chosen to move to this lifestyle as well.

AN RV IS A HOUSE BASICALLY: Imagine taking all your things with you and having your vehicle and your house all in one. That is what an RV does. In this day an age you can find an RV in several different types and models. There are three basic types of RV: Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel, and Motorhomes. The first two types have to be towed with a vehicle, the third type is motorized and pretty much is ready to go. All types of these have mostly everything a home would have in it, a bedroom(sometimes 2 bedrooms), bathroom including a shower, kitchen including cooking appliances, living room area. Many newer models have lots of amenities and you can have them custom built or even build one your self. Most all RV'S these days have water and sewer systems, and can operate appliances with propane, electric or alternative power sources. This allows a life style of freedoms.

REMODELS AND TINY HOUSES: Some people get really creative with an RV. Today you often find older buses, or other types of vehicles remodeled. This is another aspect that has gained a lot of popularity with this RV life style. Being able to build and create your own living area and being able to live in it for far less that it would ever cost to build a house. Many people are exploring new and creative ideas in this area.

COST: I will not sit here and tell you an RV is going to be cheap. I have seen some RV models sell in the millions of dollars. This is the nice part about the RV life style there are many makes and types and price ranges of RV'S. It is really up yo you just like anything how much you can afford and how much you want to pay. Another cost to consider is licenses, and insurance on an RV.  Because they are classified as vehicles some RV types require special licenses, and will all require insurance.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY: Living an RV is going to create a tight family or drive your family crazy. Face it living an in RV is a small space. Some people can handle it and others can not. The RV life style seems to have a pretty solid community. In my experience people who live this lifestyle seem open to share the experience and knowledge they have gained.

MY EXPERIENCE LIVING AN RV LIFESTYLE: I write this blog with a little experience in the RV life style. While my family has a 30 foot motorhome we have lived in for nearly 3 years. It was not a planned time frame or a life style we really chose. It came about from a series of bad events and after a while we came to realize the lifestyle is not so bad. After all we paid off our motohome and cars so we own them completely. We are able to operate our business and have a family life that suits us. Some people still have the idea that this type of life style is for very poor. However I have found there is a great deal of false beliefs in this from our society. My family even went beyond that we choose to stop all debts or credit cards living a cash life style. There are times when we want out or get frustrated but all in all we have accomplished living this life style for some time. I do not recommend it for everyone and certainly if this is a life style your going to chose you need to be ready and able to accept the fall out from it.
