The NFL, XFL, AFL, and The Alliance of American Football
IS THERE TO MUCH FOOTBALL and WILL ONE OR MORE OF THESE LEAGUES FAIL?
Well the XFL re opening just got even harder because The Alliance of American Football league already has a TV contract with CBS. Though this new league is due to open on Feb 9th 2019 no official teams, or anything else including cities or names of teams. The only news is there will be 8 teams and it will run through April 2019 for the season. Some big differences will be this league There will be no TV timeouts and 60 percent less commercials. There also will be no kickoffs and no onside kicks. Some other rules will be changed as well.
The XFL currently has no current contracts for TV and was announced for re-opening in 2020. Though at this point little has been said how the league will operate, how many teams, or where they will be located.
All that has been said is that it will not operate like the old XFL that failed. Another issue for this league if a TV deal can even be struck both USA and CBS would be off the table as the WWE has RAW and SMACKDOWN on USA. So there is the possibility of FOX but not on Thursdays or Mondays because of NFL games on those nights. There is the possibility the XFL may show up on the WWE NETWORK as well.
The NFL has the least to worry about after all even with the issues the league suffered with this last year it is a billion dollar industry. The NFL is not going anywhere and it has proven in the past that other leagues just do measure up. It has survived this long and I would venture to say it will last a bit longer.
There also is the AFL (Arena Football League) though not as popular as it once was it is still out there as well. This league is struggling as well since is closed the doors and re-opened you do not see or here much from the AFL unless your in place with a team. Though this is a well established league over the years popularity has dwindled down to nearly nothing. It is to bad some one does not buy this league and re establish it as a major player in the football world.
The question is with College Football, and 4 leagues of Football will the public and fans spread the love around to all of them or is this going to be much like several other leagues that have tried but failed with in a year of opening the leagues. I guess we will all wait and see what happens in the football world!
