How to wager the NFL by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik

                                        SO YOU WANT TO WAGER ON THE NFL!

A SHORT BIO:

In 2015 it was allowed to have a company in Nevada that would offer Investments made from wagering on Sports and I opened one of the first companies in Reno Nevada called Outlaw Sports Betting Club.

In the end I sold out to a larger casino in Las Vegas and was under contract not to open another company.

However that does not mean I can not help you understand Sports Wagering.

UNDERSTANDING HOW TO WAGER ON THE NFL:

To understand how to wager  the NFL you must understand how wagering works on the games there are 3 basic ways to wager a game POINT SPREAD, OVER/UNDER and MONEY LINE.

There are different ways to wager on a game: FIRST HALF ( 1st and 2nd Quarter) or at HALF TIME (3rd and 4th quarter) or the ENTIRE GAME.

In my research and time wagering sports I found something interesting a MONEY LINE wager gives you 50%  odds on picking or wagering the correct team.

Money Lines are listed by the books under MONEY LINE. 

A Money line has a FAVORITE and a DOG.

The FAVORITE will have a minus number EXAMPLE -125  this means to win $100 dollars you must wager $125.  The DOG will have a positive number EXAMPLE +105 this means you get $1.05  for every dollar you wager.

IF YOU WAGER A MONEY LINE YOUR TEAM MUST WIN THE GAME!

POINT SPREADS:

The books only list the FAVORITE in the point spreads EXAMPLE:

Kansas City Chiefs       -7

Las Vegas Raiders

When you see this the minus means the Chiefs must cover 7 points to PUSH or win by 8 to WIN the Wager the Raiders can lose by 7 and Push or win the entire game or lose by points from 1 to 6 and you would win your wager.

Another way to explain it is every-time the team you wagered on scores you either minus or add the point spread.If you have the minus number reduce the points by that number if you have the positive number you add it on.

When you wager point spreads the book usually is -110 meaning you wager $110 dollars to make $100. This number usually is not posted anywhere.  This is what is known as a VICK and every book takes one.

However in recent years books started changing the lines instead of changing the point spreads so sometimes you may see this:

Kansas City Chiefs          -7   -125

Las Vegas Raiders                 +105

This means the book has changed the amount of money you must wager to make $100 you must wager $125 on the Chiefs however on the Raiders you would get plus money for every dollar you wagered.

When you wager on a game you get your wager plus whatever you win back!

OVER/UNDER WAGER:

Books will set points for the entire game , first half, and second half you may wager on if the teams (both teams) will score over or under these points.

EXAMPLE:

Kansas City Chiefs   -7          45

Las Vegas Raiders

The usual wager is -110 on an over or under but again sometimes books change this as well and it will be listed to the right side of the point spread, The top is over and the bottom is under.

EXAMPLE:

Kansas City Chiefs   -7       45   -105

Las Vegas Raiders                     +125

FIRST HALF AND SECOND HALF WAGERING:

Some books even break it down to quarters however the First Half is the 1st and 2nd quarters combined, the second half also known as HALFTIME is the 3rd and 4th quarters. THE second half line is only made when the game goes to HALFTIME.

The lines work the same as the entire game there will be a point spread, over/under and depending on the score a possible Money Line.

ONE LAST NOTE:

COLLEGE FOOTBALL also works the same way as the NFL so this applies to College Ball as well!
