Before I get to my review of the museum Branson is a fun place to visit there are a lot of attractions and lakes and rivers to visit. Annie and I had taken the day to go Branson and stroll along the river. Annie wanted to visit the museum last time we had been in Branson. So I decided we needed to go see the museum.
The review is based on our experience visiting the museum on Sunday April 25th 2021.
OUTLAW REVIEW:
Just the outside of the museum is a sight to see as a smaller replica of the ship called the Titanic. The photo above is the outside of the museum and is pretty awesome just to see from the outside. At the entrance the staff is awaiting your arrival and dressed as the staff would have been in the day of the Titanic. You are handed a boarding pass with the name and info of a passenger on the Titanic.
You are given a listening device to carry with you through the museum that gives you information on sections according to a number that you press on the device. Also you are asked to go forward and not go backwards into sections once you decide to pass through them.
Upon entering there is a wall of ice that is chilled to the temperature it would have been that day the Titanic sank. As you enter the first room a larger replica of the Titanic in a case with several biographies of passengers on the ship. The staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable about the information and are willing to answer questions and talk with the guest in the museum.
As you continue through the museum there are a lot of artifacts and history of passengers on the ship. There is also a chance to sit down as a film in a small theater is offered about the construction and history of building the Titanic and other ships.
Some of the attractions that are interactive had been closed due to the Covid 19 Virus.
There is a replica of the Grand Staircase in the museum that you get to walk up and down to the second floor. Photo was provided by the museum online and was not taken by myself or my wife.
On the second floor you can explore through more photos and artifacts. While there one of the staff members engaged with us a conversation about the band members on the ship. In the room there was information about some of the people whom played music on the ship. The staff member than sat at the piano and started to play a tune for us. It was very nice though I asked Annie for a dance and she declined.
As you enter more rooms more of the ship is revealed as the area in where the ship would have been driven or Wheel of the Ship was located. There was also a replica of the night sky on the deck to enjoy.
You countinue into more rooms with lots of information about the passengers and more artifacts. It all is very well put together.
At one point the staff ask you if you want a photo taken but they do not mention they plan on charging for the photos at the end of the tour. I had a bit of an issue with this as I felt the price we paid should have included a least one photo and than if we wanted to purchase more we could. The price they asked for the photos was $40.00. Though the photos came in a nice book, and added extras I felt a bit of deception on the part of the museum and this defiantly in my book directly affected my review of the museum.
I will add once again the staff member taking the photos was very polite and professional.
In the last room before you exit back down the stairs you can find your passenger on the boarding pass. You will learn a small bit information about the person and if they survived or perished.
The museum is very nice, clean, and the staff was super friendly. There is a lot of information on passengers, and many artifacts to look at in the museum. We defiantly enjoyed the experience besides the end with the shock of the photos and prices they wanted for them. It was the end of the tour that really put a bit of sour on the experience. My recommendation would to include 1 photo for the guest as no photos or videos are allowed from the guest.
If you are a fan of the Titanic and love history you will love the museum.
I will say I also do not feel the price is worth the experience however. I feel the price should drop to around $ 15 to $20 per Adult. They told us it would take about 2 hours to complete the tour however it was much shorter than that, some of it due to parts of the museum being closed due to issues the museum could not control. The photo experience at the end also is a ploy for more money as the museum could just allow photos and videos the guest would not need to pay another $40 for a memory.
I am not sure why the museums choose the policy of no photos and videos unless it would hurt the artifacts in some way. If the museum allowed it they would get more exposure.
In closing we had a good time and I would recommend seeing the museum if your in Branson.
