Inside/Out Missouri Christmas Dinner at a TA TRUCK STOP
Annie and I decided to spend our Christmas dinner at this TA Truck Stop located at 1501 E Mount Vernon Blvd, Mount Vernon MO.
There is a real interesting story with this particular TA Truck Stop.
It has a 66 foot pyramid type monument that has miles to cities and towns. This is considered a one stop as part of the Route 66 road trip from Joplin to Saint Louis on the I-44 freeway. As the story goes the owners built a replica of the stone monument that was part of the Ozark Trail Obelisks.
However in building the exact replica of the 66 foot monument it has incorrect directions on the monument. It is something to see and to hear the story behind even adds more to the fire.
So the story goes that TA on Christmas did a buffet for the truck drivers so Annie and I had to investigate. We have in the past bought Beef Brisket, Burnt Ends, and Smoked Turkey from the deli.

On December 25th 2025 Annie and I ventured from Springfield to the TA in Mount Vernon. We had been told a restaurant called Country Pride or Ida Mae's turned into a buffet on Christmas Day. We also got told there would be the Beef Brisket, Burnt Ends, Smoked Turkey would be included in the buffet.
However upon arrival we found out the restaurant had been replaced with a Wendy's and Subway. The deli still serves hot food. We bought the Beef Brisket for $24 and Smoked Turkey for $15. We ate on the outside tables in front of the TA. After all it was in the low 70's on Christmas Day in the Ozarks.
We also found out that the owners also own a cattle farm and all the meat comes from that farm.
So take some time and visit this truck stop.
