IDK Food Reviews : The Pancake Adventure Intro

Warm. Buttery. Sweet. Fluffy. Golden brown. These are the words I associate with pancakes. When I think of pancakes, I don't want to think of some half-burnt abomination that, when you cut into, winds up breaking your fork instead.

Okay, I'll admit that last bit is an exaggeration. The commonness of tough and overcooked pancakes, however, is sadly not. There has been several times when I went out to eat, ordered a stack of them and found myself stuck with a plate full of dark brown, undercooked, soggy, and/or chewy pancakes. Additionally, there has been occasions when I could certainly tell the restaurant's batter came out of a box - and not a very good box either.

You practically have to fight dragons and climb to the tallest room of the tallest tower to find the perfect pancake. A harsh and long journey I, Alyssa, and my dad have henceforth deemed our mission; We shall find the perfect pancake. A mission that shall be carried out in the city of Reno, Nevada.

The only problem with such a mission is that... there is a lot of pancake options out there. From banana pancakes to chocolate chip. There is a lot of options for toppings and different types of syrup too. Due to the fact that if we were to try every single combination of these we would get sick of breakfast pretty quickly, we have made the decision to only search for the perfect, classic style: A plain pancake with only the options of butter and maple syrup.

We have created a set of criteria to judge the pancakes on: Taste, fluffiness, price, and how well cooked they are will all factor into the final judgment.

We will be putting up blogs, noting our progress, semi-weekly.

For those of you living in the Reno area, feel free to leave comments about what places you think have the best pancakes.
