2019 in Reno and Sparks by Micheal Tomsik

If you have lived in Reno or Sparks Nevada at any time, or maybe you just moved here, or maybe your considering it you should defiantly read this blog.
In the past I have written some blogs about the Reno and Sparks area.

So lets talk about all the recent changes that Reno and Sparks Nevada is experiencing in late 2018 and 2019.

Currently it is April 2019 and Reno or Sparks or Washoe County as we know it as has changed a lot.

CHANGES AND FACTS ABOUT RENO AND SPARKS NEVADA:

CASINOS are no longer the main draw in Reno or Sparks. The truth is that Casinos have lost out to new companies near USA PARKWAY like TESLA, PANASONIC, GOOGLE, CHEWY, and other companies. Companies like Eldorado or ERI on the NYSE have bought out Silver Legacy and Circus Circus. The Sands was bought out by Jacobs Entertainment and is under major reservations.
Many casinos got sold and closed than turned into apartments or condos in the downtown area. Casinos like Peppermill, Atlantis, Nugget, Harrah's and Cal Neva, GSR, Boomtown, Sands, Silver Legacy, Eldorado, Circus Circus all remain and some smaller casinos in the area. However Casinos are losing out to Indian Casinos in other states and are no longer the major draw in Reno or Sparks Nevada.
People still come to gamble but it is the large events like Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations, Rib Cook Offs, and other large events plus Lake Tahoe are what people come to Reno and Sparks for.

HOUSING: Areas are going up like crazy in 2018 and 2019 in the Reno and Sparks area. Also housing prices have sky rocketed in the area. The rise has the average house around $400,000 dollars. This has also affected apartment and house rentals with the average rent in Reno or Sparks around $1200 to $1400 per month. Apartments, condos, and housing  construction is happening all over Reno and Sparks creating a lot of jobs. However at some point in time these jobs will dry up and than you got to ask where does that leave the local economy?

EMPLOYMENT: It is estimated the median income in Reno or Sparks Nevada is just under $50,000 per year in 2018. Reno has seen a major employment growth in 2018 and 2019. Tesla and Panasonic are two of the companies that have helped with that growth and the announcement of Google coming to the area. Currently unemployment is under .02 percent in the area but in the past is has been as high as 13%.

POPULATION: In 2018 and 2019 the population in Nevada was estimated at 3.2 million. Reno was estimated at 248.000, and Sparks around 100,000 in 2017. Washoe County is estimated at 460,000 currently from 2018 to presently. According to most agencies that project populations Washoe County that included Sparks and Reno Nevada are going to experience a growth topping off around 600,00 to 650,000 with in the next few years.
