Tesla and the hiring process for this company for the factory in Sparks NV
Ever since Tesla hit Sparks Nevada out at USA Parkway the company has been the talk of the town about jobs. So I decided to find out what the story is and exactly how many jobs will be at the Tesla factory.
I talked to HR and they say at some point around 1500 to 3000 employees will be working at the factory. There is also talk of adding a second factory but that currently will not be confirmed or denied by Tesla. There has been no decision in that as of yet.
ABOUT THE FACTORY:
The Tesla Factory is huge and they are very aggressive about no photos or anything being posted on the internet. There is a security booth at the entrance of the factory that you must pass through and photos or videos are not allowed in the factory. Matter of fact I had to sign a NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT so I will not be posting any photos or talking about the factory in Sparks Nevada itself. All I will say is I was given a tour and it is impressive.
What I can say is it huge and Tesla has taken a lot of steps to make the Factory self sustainable with renewable energy. Tesla is very much into solar and wind and reusable water sources.
TEMP AGENCIES AND CONTRACTED COMPANIES AT TESLA:
There are a lot of companies that are contracted with Tesla but they are not Tesla employees. If your looking directly at Tesla you need to go through the web page I gave you at the bottom of the blog. There also is a temporary company that is working with Tesla but once again this is an outside contracted company and not directly with Tesla.

TESLA EMPLOYMENT and HIRING PROCESS:
So here is the hiring process at Tesla and they will tell you up front it is a process that takes the company 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
Step One: Fill out your application on line. Most likely you will receive an email back from an employment recruiter. Make sure you contact them back Tesla does a lot of stuff via email and telephone.
Step Two: A recruiter may email or call you. This call or email is important as they will offer you to come to an interview at the Factory on USA Parkway. They will email you an interview invitation and it is a good idea to print this out and take it with you along with two copies of a resume.
NOTE: Be ready for about two hours at the factory and travel time as USA Parkway is 17 miles from Sparks Nevada on I-80 towards Fernely. Currently there is one gas station and a few fast food places on USA Parkway so be prepared.
Step Three: You will go to the factory, Interviews usually only done on two days a week. During this interview you will pass through the security gate. So bring your interview invitation that will be emailed to you. At the factory bring an ID you will need it for a temporary pass and you will also sign a non disclosure agreement. You will be given a tour of the company and talked to by HR. There are two test given during the interview so you may want to catch up on the metric and centimeter system. Also brush up on your skills for dates and filing for inventory. Failing these test will mean you are not going to move to the next stage and you will have to reapply 6 months down the road.
Step Four: If you have passed your test you will be interviewed on the spot. A manger or person in charge of the department you applied for will interview you. This is where it is a good idea to research Tesla and the Company. Have some basic knowledge of what the company does and what the future plans for the company is. Be ready to discuss your prior background and answer some questions about your future with Tesla. If at this point you are offered a position you will move to the next step.
Step Five: Congratulations you got offered a job at Tesla. At this point they take you over to a new team that has you fill out on a computer for your DRUG TEST and BACKGROUND CHECK. Once you have completed this you move to the next step.
NOTE: This is where they tell you the process can take up to 6 weeks to complete.
Step Six: The drug test will need to be done in 48 hours and TESLA sends you an email on where to go and paperwork to do the test. This is where I told you a lot of things are done via email.
Step Seven: Tesla has applicants do a physical as well and you will need to schedule an appointment for this. Once again this is usually done via email but also you may receive a call to schedule this next step. Once you have completed this step your waiting on Tesla for the Background Check.
NOTE: The company they use or background investigation team may contact you if they have questions via text or phone calls.
That is all the steps once everything has been completed Tesla HR will contact you. I warn you however I have talked to many people about the process and time frame it takes. My recommendation is to keep your HR recruiter phone number and email and once you completed your drug test and Physical to find out where they are in the process.
