My pick in Battle of the Casinos in Reno and Sparks Nevada

Ok this is only my opinion but I do live here and have been in or had experience in all these casinos so take it or leave it but here is my list:

PEPPERMILL OR WESTERN VILLAGE:

Owned by the same company these two casinos could be considered night and day. Peppermill offers many things a Sports Book, Keno, Table, Games, Great rooms, shows, restaurants and gift shops, spa, pool and lots of other stuff as well. Western Village offers some of that but the hotel or rooms well that is another story, and even though the casino was remodeled I only care to go to the deli for food or the sports book once in awhile. The location of Western Village also is troubling near the Sparks Marina right behind a large truck stop that has a small casino as well. Though I never have had an issue at either property I would much rather stay at the Peppermill.

Peppermill wins this battle hands down!

ATLANTIS or PEPPERMILL:

Here is an epic battle both these casinos located on South Virginia Street and both casinos offer every possible thing a person could ask from a casino. However I have had issues with Atlantis both in the Sports Book and Players Club. I also have heard some rumors and complaints from other people about the casino not paying out on slots very well. Even though I had issues I had to take in consideration of other things like comps, customer service, and an overall experience in the casino.

Peppermill wins again sorry Atlantis.

GSR or PEPPERMILL:

This takes me back to the days when GSR was the HILTON. GSR is a property I believe is the best in RENO. GSR has the largest casino floor, shops, restaurants and all the bells and whistles that come with a casino. I think this casino could be a small city if someone did it correctly. I have stayed at GSR and I loved it. Night club, Line Dancing, Theater, Bowling, Driving Range, shops and more.

I would call this a TIE because I really can not pick the one that is better than the other.

GSR and PEPPERMILL or ELDORADO, SILVER LEGACY and CIRCUS CIRCUS:

The Casino biz is heating up recently ERI or ELDORADO bought up the whole block they own all three casinos on North Virginia Street. There is nothing you can not find in these three casinos and yes they would be number ONE but there is one problem LOCATION!
Being downtown where parking is an issue during big events, also the homeless, panhandling and other issues that deter you away from these casinos is the only reason I am not putting them number ONE. ERI recently remodeled both Silver Legacy and Circus Circus making it the BEST CASINO COMBO in town but like I told you what hurts them is Location.

Sorry ERI but both GSR and PEPPERMILL and ATLANTIS win over you this time. If ERI can change the downtown area they will RULE the CASINO BIZ in RENO but for the moment I put them in 4th place.

HARRAHS or CAL NEVA:

This is not even a fair fight. Both casinos downtown near ERI. Cal Neva is old and needs a serious revival. Harrahs at least stays in the game. Both these casinos are in trouble with ERI owning the entire three casinos in this area.

HARRAHS wins this round but is no match for ERI!

SANDS is the only other large casino and we will not go there because as of JULY 1st they are sold to GOLD DUST WEST a company who owns a smaller casino in that area.

GOLD DUST WEST was not included in my battle due to no hotel.

NUGGET is the only large casino left in SPARKS so I have no idea what I would compare it to but it would lose to ERI, Atlantis, PEPERMILL, and GSR.

RAIL CITY is another smaller casino but no hotel so I did not put it on my list of Battles because of no hotel.

BOOMTOWN casino on the outskirts of Reno is a pretty awesome casino as well. Recently became a Best Western Plus Hotel, and remodeled the buffet. It has a steak house, Mels Dinner, kids area, Keno, some table games and some entertainment. Also has a RV PARK.
For the area it is in it is the bomb but comparing it to ATLANTIS, GSR, ERI or PEPPERMILL it falls short on the battle list for a variety of reasons.

GOLD DUST CASINO is a smaller casino on the border  and has an RV park. It is a small casino with a Jack in The Box, Pete Coffe House, Port a SUB, and the Lottery. Also a Sinclair gas station and mini mart.
Not really fair to compare it because there is no hotel.
However I live near the casino and like it so you can at least get gas on the way in or out of town here.

BONANZA CASINO not included in my battle there is no hotel.

HOBEYS CASINO also not included no hotel.
