Inside/Out Missouri Arena Football Ozark Lunkers Review

 

            I attended the first game on June 1st 2024 against a team called the Waterloos.

The ARENA FOOTBALL LEAGUE was founded in 1986 and played the first season in 1987. The AFL ( Arena Football League) closed in 2019. After 2019 some of the teams formed other leagues or operated in smaller venues. 

Arena Football is played indoors on a 50 yard field, the rules are similar to the NFL rules, However Arena Football has many different variations of some of the rules. The games are fast paced and usually high scoring. I covered a team in Jacksonville Florida called the JACKSONVILLE SHARKS.

Tonight the game was amazing the crowd in Springfield was really into an Arena Football Team here in the Ozarks. The crowd was electric and there was a long line for entry into the game. Matter of fact they started the game a few minutes late due to fans getting into the building.

TICKETS:

You can buy the tickets on line or at the door at OZARK LUNKERS WEB PAGE. Prices are from $15 to $250  depending on where you want to sit. Sitting by the arena is the best area for the most action. The tickets are bought through a company called STUB WIRE.

The next home games are on June 15th, July 6th, and July 13th 2024.

PARKING:

Parking was free and the parking area was completely full, and even had tailgaters! The parking was at the OZARK FAIR GROUNDS and the game was held in the new arena built at the FAIRGROUNDS.

SEATING:

The field was put in the center of the arena and it had seating all around. The seats are comfortable. You could see the game from almost anywhere you sat at. However I will mention sitting in the higher seats you will not get as much interaction as the lower seats.    

FOOD and DRINKS

As with any event food and drinks come at a higher price. However the area had a few vendors with treats you could enjoy. There were alcoholic beverages served as well. 

TEAM MERCHANDISE:

MY OVERALL REVIEW:

The game was exciting however NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN THE RULES TO ME. There were no field goals or kick offs. They threw the ball on kick offs and only did conversions for extra points. I am not sure if it was for 1 point or 2.  I have no idea how many teams are in the league or what the name of the league is. There is nowhere to follow stats on the teams or players. There are no win loss records. 

As far as the game was great, the crowd was involved. However in my section there was an issue with seating I believe they may have sold the seats twice. This is nothing against the team but the man in front of me supported a weapon under his shirt surrounded by a team of young kids. The people behind me had smaller children and they had been pretty unruly. This kinda ruined my experience.
