Keto and Healthy Living (CAN A KETO LIFESTYLE CAUSE KIDNEY STONES ) by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik


This blog is a little different because Annie and I started a Keto group and someone in the group contacted me with some information.  I decided that I needed to review and investigate and research the information.

What the person told me was a medical health professional had attributed Kidney Stones to the Keto Lifestyle.

So here is what I discovered about the question of Keto and Kidney Stones:

HOW IS A KIDNEY STONE CREATED:

Kidney stones are created from a high concentration of minerals and other substances like calcium, oxalate, and uric acid that come together to form crystals. 

When the crystals stick together you get Kidney Stones.

IS THERE EVIDENCE A KETO LIFESTYLE COULD CAUSE KIDNEY STONES:

The answer is NO!

THE TRUE FACTS:

In the cases observed in many medical studies showed the people who lived Keto Lifestyle incorrectly stood a higher risk of Kidney Stones than the people who followed the Keto Lifestyle correctly.

While some of the foods in the Keto Lifestyle can attribute to Kidney Stones the main reason found for Kidney Stones while living a Keto Lifestyle was from dehydration.While in Ketosis the body extracts more water and therefore you need to drink plenty of water.

There are some things you can do to prevent Kidney Stones while living a Keto Lifestyle like adding lemon to your water or adding calcium to your diet through eating cheese. 

If your having Kidney Stones while living a Keto Lifestyle you should consult your health care professional.
