Is it possible at this point the NFL will move or postpone the NFL Playoffs or Championship Game?
The NFL National Football League is in week 13 of 17 in regular season for all the teams.
Covid19 has already made the NFL move around games, and some teams even have to leave the State.
Santa Clara County banned all live sports this week leaving Levi Stadium unavailable for the 49ERS.
The 49ERS are planning to play the next 2 games at State Farm Stadium in Glendale ,Arizona.
Also the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens was moved from Thanksgiving to Wednesday December 2nd 2020. The Steelers won that game and remain undefeated this year.
The NFL has made statements saying the league is planning on completing the entire season.
There has been NO REPORTS of the NFL postponing the Playoffs or Championship game.
However with the Covid19 seeing a huge spike in many areas the NFL may have to consider some more options that the NFL has been attempting to avoid.
There may be more places that implement bans on live sporting events.
HERE ARE SOME THINGS THE NFL COULD CONSIDER:
BUBBLE GAMES:
The NFL has avoided doing a bubble for the teams and games, but it is possible that the NFL may be considering this option, or may consider the use it for playoffs if the NFL can complete the entire season.
The normal season ends January 3rd, the playoffs run through the Championship game on February 2nd.
STRETCH OUT THE SCHEDULE:
The NFL could choose to stretch out the regular season schedule and move playoffs games off by a week or even two. They have room to do this with how the playoffs games are scheduled.
CUT THE PRO BOWL:
Going with the above stretching the schedule out they could cut the Pro Bowl. This would give extra time to move games around both for the regular season and playoffs.
The NFL will most likely not move or postpone the Championship Game:
The NFL most likely would try to move games around, do a bubble if needed but not move this game.
There are several reasons in my opinion why the NFL would not consider moving or postponing the Championship game.
1) The game averages around 99.9 million viewers.
2) The game brings in about 17.2 billion dollars in revenues.
The game is usually played on February 7th every year.
The NFL may luck out as it is possible vaccinations are in the works and expected to roll out toward the end of December.
There is no clear answer however at this time as the Covid19 virus rages on there is talk of a National Lockdown, and there are already many States doing restrictions and lockdowns once again.
