Our Tomsik RV Life..Your RV Sytems
Our Tomsik RV Life no matter if you want to live off the grid or on the grid you should have knowledge of the following systems in your RV:
Electricity, Water System, Propane, and Sewage.
In this blog I am going to discuss these systems.
ELECTRICITY:
Most all Rv's use a 30 or 50 amp service. Most all RV's have an inverter that converts the electricity from a 240 amp to the 30 and 50 amp spreading the electricity through the RV.
The inverter uses fuses just like a normal house electrical box and appliances and other electrical devices are all operated by plugging into outlets or directly wired to the inverter.
Most all RV's have a plug in system much like a dryer that hooks up to the 240 amp service.
The difference being that RV's cam be also operated with propane on many devices, and some come with generators, or use even solar or wind power.
There are back up battery systems used in RV's and you really should learn the basic operations of the electricity for your RV.
PROPANE:
Most all RV's use propane for many of the appliances, heating the water, or cooking, or even heat for the RV. The propane system operates just like it would in a home but on a smaller scale. Many RV's use CO smoke detectors to make sure proper ventilation is happening in the RV.
WATER:
RV's have a water system as well with holding tanks for water, sewer. You can hook the water to the public system or fill up the holding tank and dump the grey water and black water tanks as they are called. The Grey Water tank is for water that has no sewage the Black Water tank is for sewage. The System is like a septic system and learning how it all works is vital to keeping your RV going on the grid or off.
SEWAGE:
The sewage works with the water system and works similar to a septic tank system. However most RV'S have a FRESH WATER HOLDING TANK, a GREY WATER HOLDING TANK,and a BLACK WATER HOLDING TANK. You will need to get hoses and learn the system how to dump the grey water and blackwater tanks and how to fill the water tank.
