What have been the big headlines in the sports world?
Here are some of the stories that have hit the headlines this year that I feel would be top stories of the year so far.
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP vs NBA AND NFL:
This story actually started in the 2017 season of the NFL as players used the NFL to protest during the National Anthem. Players decided to kneel instead of standing during the National Anthem. This was happening more in the NFL than the NBA. The NBA also lashed out at Donald Trump and many fans of the NBA and NFL decided to boycott games. So there was a decline in NFL and NBA viewership on live TV. The NFL actually adopted new rules and regulations regarding the National Anthem telling players they can stay in the locker rooms or they have to stand or be fined. The NBA already had rules and regulations about the National Anthem but some players and teams still are in a fight with the President over the subject. There is still some feuding going on over the subject between the NFL and NBA against President Donald Trump.
WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY:
This company is constantly in the headlines on the internet but I put it on my list mostly because of the stock price rise recently. The company signed multi billion dollar contracts with FOX and USA. This brought the company stock up from the $20 range to currently the $75 range.
UFC CONNER McGREGOR:
One of the biggest draws of the UFC was in a boxing match with Floyd Jr. Mayweather in 2017 but in 2018 this MMA fighter got arrested and ended up in court. To date he has not been back in the ring.
RAIDERS MOVE TO VEGAS AND THE GOLDEN NIGHTS GO TO NHL CHAMPIONSHPS:
The NFL approved the Raiders moving to Las Vegas Nevada. Also an expansion team called the Las Vegas Knights in the NHL made the NHL Championship but lost to the Capitals.
