Missouri became an official State in 1821 but the State was mostly populated with Native American Indians from the Kickapoo Tribe.

In 1830 the very first Cabin was built somewhere near College Street. in today's map.

In 1833 one of the town founders donated 50 acres of land where the town would be built and this eventually became Green County.

In 1838 Cherokee Indians had been forced to move by the Government and the Indians marched across Missouri and this became known as THE TRAIL OF TEARS. The trail came through the town of Springfield.

Missouri was in the middle of the Civil War in 1861.

In 1865 the town became famous with a shoot out with Wild Bill Hicock.

In 1870 the Rail Road arrived and the town was split in two sides so there was a North Springfield and Springfield.

From 1868 to 1949 John T Woodruff was one of the person that developed most of the city.

In 1925 to 1026 Springfield was known as THE BIRTHPLACE OF ROUTE 66.

In 1955 to 1960 Springfield was famous for Music with the Ozark Jubliee that featured mostly County singers and performers.

SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI is known as QUEEN CITY OF THE OZARKS, BIRTH PLACE OF ROUTE 66, and BUCKLE OF THE BIBLE BELT.
