When does KETO stop being a FAD? By Annie Tomsik

I was just reading an article about how some physicians and researchers are talking about different diets being a FAD. They listed the Ketogenic Diet as one of these.

My question is, how would Keto have become a fad? To my knowledge fad means something that is like a virus. It gets started, runs it's course, and fades out.

Dictionary: "Fad" an intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, especially one that is short-lived.

But here is the problem I have with this theory. Eating a low carb diet was a part of life since the beginning of man. Humans ate mostly meats, some vegetables and seasonal fruits. Over time, grains were added.

We started commercial packaged foods with chemically produced preservatives in the past 150 years. Manufacturers added sweetners to everything. All of this together has increased disease. If you review illness and obesity along the timeline of commercial food preparation and food modification, you can see that these changes have increased side by side.

In 1863 doctors had discovered healthy benefits of eating a Ketogenic Diet. They would tell women to cut carbs out of their diet, for reproductive  health, headaches and lack of energy. Doctors also found that in 1921 children with epilepsy benefited from a Ketogenic Diet, having few to no seizures.

Today many people are living a Ketogenic Lifestyle. Many physicians not only live a Ketogenic Lifestyle but also prescribe it to their patients. These doctors and their patients have been living a Ketogenic Lifestyle for 20, 30, and 40 years. Many people who have found Keto have started it for many reasons and once they found out how it changed them they continued to live it. People suffering from obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, musclure disease, immune disorder, behavioral disorder and many more, have benefitted from living a Ketogenic Lifestyle.

Keto is not a fad. When will Keto be given its proper place. Just like being vegetarian, vegan, and carnivore; being a ketotarian has its place too.
