There are many questions I see about TAXES and WAGES on social media groups so lets answer a few questions here.
As in other blogs I have explained an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR IS CONSIDERED SELF EMPLOYED. You are a contractor that makes you Self Employed.
What this means is the companies you contract for DO NOT take STATE OR FEDERAL TAXES, or UNEMPLOYMENT, or SOCIAL SECURITY out of your pay including TIPS!
YOU are responsible to pay State and Federal Taxes!
SO HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU CAN WRITE OFF ON YOUR TAXES:
CAR PAYMENTS:
( You may have to write off a certain percent depending on how much you use your car for business or personal use)
CAR MAINTENANCE
Oil changes, tires, engine tune ups, cleaning your car, car washes, repairs
MILEAGE:
You may write off car mileage
GAS:
You may write of gas cost.
CAR LEASE:
If you lease a car you CAN NOT write off maintenance cost.
FOOD and SUPPLIES to do BUSINESS:
You can write off food (for you or customers), any items used for the business, hot bags, cold bags, supplies.
CLOTHING:
Shoes, jackets, clothing for weather, clothing related to doing business.
CELL PHONE:
( You may have to write off a certain percent depending on how much you use your phone for business or personal use)
EXTRA INSURANCE:
Any additional insurances that can be related to your business.
