Should employers be allowed to fire people over social media ?

Face it these days SOCIAL MEDIA is all over the place people these days can take photos, post instantly online, and even post videos and other stuff almost instantly online. However there is a grey area because the INTERNET does not have a lot of laws rules or regulations.

So a person has to ask where are the rights of the people and the rights of a company to use Social Media as a reason for termination.

The First Amendment states: guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. So this should apply on the internet as well yet many companies including one I worked for recently have fired people including myself for post on the internet.

So I no longer have freedom of speech because if I post anything about the company I work for can fire me for social media. I understand companies have employees who post things that can affect the company or business but the fact is most people post things that are related to them so these post are private and express how that person perceives something, or reacted to something.

So should companies be allowed to fire people for posting on Social Media?
