I started walking back in July 2023 with Trixie she is the one in the photo above. She is an very active dog. I started walking as a way to keep her from being locked up in the house or back yard. I also at that time switched my job position to the office so I also was walking as a way not to gain weight.

I started recording little reels under 2 minutes each on Facebook and Instagram. We later adopted Trip also a young and very energetic dog. He started joining the walks and reels. We have currently been doing this since July 2024. We had been doing short walks but then a friend of mine Richard asked me if I would walk with him once a week.

So unless something weird is going on or weather prevents us from doing that we started walking different trails around Springfield Missouri with Trixie and Trip. We do longer walks from 2 to 5 miles. So if your in the Springfield Missouri area here are the top 5 Trails we walked:

ALL THE TRAILS LISTED ARE DOG APPROVED WITH LEASHES

#1) FRISCO HIGHLINE TRAIL

This trail is a major trail it is 35 miles long going from Springfield to Bolivar Missouri. We have not done the entire trail but it is one of my goals. In Springfield the start of the trail is on 3845 W Kearny.

The tail goes through towns like Willard, Walnut Grove, Wishart, and Bolivar. It is a very popular trail for walkers and bicycles. This trail will leave  you wanting to complete the entire trail.

#2) LOST HILL PARK

Located at 4705 N Farm Road #151 this trail is located a few miles out of town but well worth the trip. This is located on a 60 acre reserve with the Sac River running through the property. The river is usually passable on the trail however sometimes the river is high and there are parts of the trail you will not be able to walk or bicycle on.

However this trail has two different directions one that winds you through the hills and trees and the other way that winds you along the river.

#3) SOUTH CREEK GREENWAY TRAIL

LINK TO WEB PAGE HERE

This trail goes all over the place in Springfield. You can go to 2405 S National if you want to start there. However there are several locations around Springfield. If you are into bird watching this trail is for you. If you travel over to 2400 South Scenic Ave you can walk around the lake and visit the Butterfly House or the Botanical Gardens.

It is estimated to be 6 miles long. This trail connects to other trails around town as well.

#4) BUSIEK STATE FORREST

LINK TO WEB PAGE HERE

This is a little ways out of Springfield toward Branson Missouri. There is 2,500 acres of land to explore. There are two trails going nearly 18 miles. Another plus about this park is that you can apply to camp on the trail. You will find a river and many beautiful exploration opportunities.

#5) OZARK FINLEY RIVER PARK

LINK HERE TO WEB PAGE HERE

This is another trail that requires you to go towards Branson but you will get off in Ozark Missouri. There is a long trail that goes in several directions and even goes back in the woods, There is a river and plenty of places to enjoy the day.
