INSIDE/OUT MISSOURI REVIEW ON OUR TRIP TO ROARING RIVERS STATE PARK
Roaring River is located at 12716 Road 2239 Cassville, MO.

We visited Roaring Rivers over the weekend of May 4th and 5th 2024. I would suggest making reservations though there are 3 campgrounds the park sells out very fast. However I will tell you that it is pretty easy to make a reservation at any State Park on the web page above.
We made a reservation the campsite was $32 with taxes. You do have to use a debit card or credit card to make the reservation online. Also you must cancel your reservation 24 hours in advance or they will not refund the reservation.
We camped in Campground 2 in space 103. The campground was nice the only complaint I had was where the shower and bathroom was located. However if you bring an RV you will not have to worry about the bathroom or shower but if you're still into the old fashioned tent camping or sleeping in a vehicle the location of the bathroom is very bad. The bathroom was located at the entrance of the park you have to walk up the road where vehicles are going back and forth plus there are no lights. It just seemed a bit unsafe to me. It also seemed a distance away for some campers.
The night we stayed they also had an issue with the restrooms and they locked the doors and left a note to use the restrooms in campground 1 or 3. These campgrounds are close but not walking distance so we had to pack up the vehicle and dogs to go find a restroom late in the evening.
So I would love you to WATCH THE YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON ROARING RIVERS CLICK HERE.
So I have a Missouri Fishing License but here at Roaring Rivers you need to research how it all works.
So there are some things you should know before going to Roaring Rivers to Trout Fish. There is a hatchery at the top of the river in the campground where they raise the trout that are released into the river.
You will need to find the Park Store to obtain a daily permit they charge you $5 per day for the permit and yes you do have to have this permit or else you will get fined by park rangers. Also there is a time frame that you are allowed to fish daily they use an old World War 3 siren that goes off twice per day. The first one in the morning and the second one in the evening. This sound is the start and end of the fishing day. If you fish outside of these hours again the park rangers will fine you.
Another lesson I learned was sections of the river they have it mapped out in 3 sections. The 1st section is up by the hatchery, and the 2nd section is the middle of the river flowing through campground #2, and the 3rd section is the last part of the park flowing through campground #3.
There are rules about what type of bait you can use in section #1 and #2 you can only use fly's and lures and may not use any type of other baits. In section #3 you can use any bait you want.
You are only allowed to keep 4 fish per day and in some sections it is only catch and release. I recommend getting the map from the store that explains the sections and bait you can use.
I enjoyed casting my line but I did not catch anything I tried in section 1 and 2.
Overall the experience was enjoyable and relaxing but we probably will not tent camp here again if we return it will be for a day trip or with an RV. However if you want a chance to catch some fish learn how to fly fish or just love fishing and camping this Park is for you!
