                                                   WELCOME TO TEN PETS and US BLOG

Many of us have  Pets and many of us consider them FAMILY or even treat them as if they are our CHILDREN. The type of pet you have is up to you but the most common pet is either a CAT or DOG. 

It is estimated in 2023 that there is One CAT or DOG per person in AMERICA. Research showed in 2023 that households owning a dog sat at 38.4 percent and households with a cat  sat at 25.4 percent.

Coming in after that Bunnies, Ferrets, Reptiles, Fish,  and other exotic pets hit the top of the list.

Each year since 2017 the revenues from the Pet industry have risen in 2022 the estimated revenues reached 23,5 Billion dollars. 

My family has TEN FAMILY MEMBERS OR PETS!

We have 4 dogs and 5 cats and 1 frog:

DOGS: Trixie, Shadow, Fawn. Nellie

CATS: Tabitha, Merlin, Zuko, Nova, Luna

FROG: Turbo

Some would say this is too many pets for the three people in our home. We have not always had this many but we have always had an additional family member in our lives. We have had some pass as well.  

We enjoy our FAMILY MEMBERS or PETS.

If you decide to follow this blog you will learn about our pets or family members as breeds,daily activities, food and vet care. The blogs will discuss a lot like traveling, bathing, grooming, and other daily family issues.

BATTLE WITH THE FLEAS:

We lived in Reno Nevada up to 2020 and due to the area FLEAS did not breed or had the ability to live in the climate so we never dealt with the little critters. It started when we bought our home in Springfield Missouri. Having 9 pets that can have fleas the battle began. 

We bathed, they were treated with medications, we kept the home clean but everything we did the fleas still came. Try treating 5 cats and 4 dogs it is a task none of them like it and they all know when it is happening.

We got to the point of removing all of the carpets in our home putting in tile and wood flooring so the fleas could not live in the carpet.

If you have carpet and pets Fleas love carpets!

We tried different brands of treatments, and we finally started treating our dog area with Diatomaceous Earth. 

To date we still fight the Fleas here in Missouri the fleas have gotten used to some treatments so you have to change them up to see what works and what does not.

Flea medications and treatments can be costly as well I recommend looking online or talking to your vet or local pet store to find deals on the medications. 

If you do not have the money for treatments warm water and soap. Many people recommend Dawn dish soap. However some soaps can strip the fur that protects your Family Member.
