Outlaw Sports Entertainment and going to a Springfield Cardinals Game

My wife Annie and I decided to catch a game on July 2nd 2022 starting at 6:30 PM featuring the Springfield Cardinals vs Wichita Wind Surge at Hammons Field in Springfield Missouri.

HERE IS MY OVERALL REVIEW ON OUR NIGHT!

TICKETS:

PARKING:

I have a major complaint in this area. Cities, towns, and places that have sports should have ample parking available for any event going on at the arena or event center. However in Springfield where Hammons field is located there is not ample parking. As we attempted to park for the game there were several parking lots charging $20. We ended up parking 6 blocks away and walking to the game with several other people attending the game.  If you go to a game and do not want to pay $20 for parking you will need to park several blocks away or find a bus, taxi, uber, lyft or have some one drop yop off and pick you up.

This also becomes an issue of safety for you and family or friends, and the worry that your vehicle will be safe. This is one area the team could do improvements on. If they made a deal with a local parking lot they could offer a shuttle service. Offering parking at a reasonable rate of like $5 to $10 would attract more fans to games.

ENTRANCE TO THE STADIUM:

You can look up the rules and regulations but my wife was not happy about them going through her purse. We got told by the staff that large purses or bags had to be clear. Though we understand it is for safety if you are going to check one person you need to check everyone. As they checked my wife's purse I saw several other ladies walk by and not be checked at all.

SEATING:

The main seats have no covering over the seating areas for shade. There are some seats under the awning and inside the buildings but they are limited. Also as far as seating we sat on the outside seats in row B and N as they are on the outside of the Left and Right fields. If you want to be in the main areas I would choose seating areas J, H, K, and L. We sat in N because of the shade and later moved to Row B. Our tickets actually had been in Row A but as the game was not sold out or even close so the staff let us move around in empty areas.

STAFF:

The staff was friendly, and helped with questions about seating.

FOOD and DRINKS:

You can bring in clear water bottles or soda. I would suggest bringing water as in most concession stands it was $5 to $6 per bottle. As far as a soda about the same price, and beer or wine much higher in the $7 to $10 range. As far as food there was Chick Fa La, Domino's Pizza, and some other food places. You can expect some high prices as a hot dog started at $7. If you are planning on buying food or drinks they do not take cash either so bring a debit card or credit card. We bought a chicken clear bowl that ran $12 that came with grilled chicken, lettuce, cheese, and they wanted to add $5 for guacamole. It was not that much food and honestly not even very good.

THE GAME:

The game was good as they played some games with fans in-between innings, played music, and had a mascot interacting with fans. They also gave out free shirts, and cup coasters to fans.

THE STADIUM:

Hammons Field is a very nice facility it was well maintained, clean, and offered fans a great experience of the game.

OVERALL REVIEW:

Despite the parking and high food and drink prices we would recommend you catch a game!
