What can I tell you about RV life by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik

My family ended up in a 1998 Ford Chateau Sport Class C for nearly 5 years.

Before I get into our RV story and my tell all story here are some RV facts:

There are different types of RV'S the 3 main types are: 5th Wheels, Travel Trailers, and Motorhomes.

There are a wide variety of RV'S including people rebuilding buses, tiny homes, remodeling other types of homes on wheels.

HERE ARE SOME RV FACTS:

In 2020 it was estimated over 1 million people called an RV a home.

It is estimated over 9 million people own an RV in 2020.

It is estimated 11% of US households has an RV in 2020.

It is estimated over 40 million people go Rving in 2020.

It is estimated 50 percent of people who RV take a pet with them.

The RV industry is estimated to be around a 15.4 billion dollar industry.

It is estimated there is around 9 million rvs on the road in the USA in 2020.

Our RV adventure began when we decided to move back to Oregon from Florida.

We decided to purchase an RV and ended up buying a 1998 Ford Chateau Sport 30 footer.

This is considered a CLASS C RV a Class C is one with a cabover the driver area.

This was not ours but this is a similar type of RV.

We ended up living in this RV in Verdi Nevada from 2014 to 2019.

RVS are pretty amazing they are like tiny homes, with new technology and add ons many RVS have pull outs and more space these days.

Our RV had a back bedroom and the front area made into a bedroom, it had a fridge, stove, microwave, bathroom including a shower, toilet, kitchen including stove and stove top.

Also had a bed area in the cab area.

Our  RV and most asll RVS use propane, and electricity for operation of appliances, heating for the RV.

Our RV and most RVS use a septic system and water holding tanks for water and sewer.

Most RVS have an onboard generator as well in motorhomes and buses, but 5th wheels and travel trailers may not have a generator included.

With recent upgrades some RVS use solar or wind power as well.

This is one reason many people are choosing to make RVS home also with the fact you can move them with fairly easily with a truck or just start your engine up. Also hook ups are simple and water and sewer systems are fairly simple to use. You have everything you have in your home only on wheels.

In 2019 some States, Cities and towns started to pass laws about calling an RV a home.

In 2020 it is getting harder to find long term living for RVS.

Mostly you need to find a park that allows RVS, however you need to research private property rules, regulations, and laws in your area if your planning to live in yours.

In 2020 RV spots and parks have expanded and many State and Federal Parks allow RVS.

You can legally camp on BLM land in an RV however in some places you need a permit and most places only allow up to 14 days. If your planning to stay on BLM land it is best to check local rules, regulations, and laws.

An RV spot in a park can vary depending on location and time of year, and events going on but on average the price can range from $10 to $100 per night. I would again recommend research of the time dates and place you plan to RV.

As I mentioned pets most parks accept pets but they may have some additional rules, regulations, and requirements.

I will tell you this I did not mind living in an RV yes the space is small, but once you get use to that your life changes and you adapt to living in the RV.

In 2020 we sold our Class C Motorhome, and currently are no longer living in an RV.
