REDS HAMBURGER RESTAURANT REVIEW by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik
RED'S HAMBURGER RESTAURANT REVIEW
On October 16th 2024 we decided to try a restaurant that is a symbol of Route 66 in Springfield MO. The original restaurant stood for nearly 40 years in Springfield MO. It closed in 1984 The restaurant made a comeback with different owners in and moving locations to its current location on 2301 W Sunshine Springfield MO. on 2019 where the restaurant has been ever since.
We moved here in 2020 and have driven past a million times (not really). We have driven past it quite a few times and I often wanted to visit the place but since Annie and I mostly do Carnivore I was not sure of the place offering us what we wanted to eat.
Tonight however we had been out late and I wanted a different dinner plan and Annie had seen a $5 special on hamburgers so we stopped.
The restaurant is not on the Route 66 streets it is off the beaten path even though Sunshine is a major street it was not part of Route 66. The restaurant gives you that old feeling of restaurants of yesterday's years with photos plastered all over the inside walls and the fascination with the looks from the time period.
On one side they have a little ice cream stand that also makes shakes and on the other the menu board and ordering counter. The menu is pretty simple Burgers, Chicken, French Fries, Onion Rings, and a few other menu choices.
The prices start at around $5 to $15 for a meal, and sorry I did not ask about the ice cream or shakes .
There is plenty of room and tables you walk up to the counter and order your food , You go sit down and your number is called. The waitress did bring the food to the table buns and all.
I really mean they really did not understand no buns!
We just got plain hamburgers but the staff did not seem to understand the concept of no buns. I would have gone a little Keto but was not offered lettuce, tomatoes or even cheese. Annie and I got the bacon cheese burgers at $8 each and got our two grandkids single burgers at $5 each. With one unsweetened tea the entire bill was around $30.
I will say the prices are not all that bad compared to some places around town.
I had another small issue besides the food and buns the place was a mess around the soda area and condiment area. It was not clean at all. I took some photos you can find on Inside Out Missouri on Facebook.

In closing I think this restaurant is a great way to have lunch or dinner in a replica of an old Route 66 dinner but it is not really all that if you ask me. I was not impressed the staff was not friendly, the place was a mess, and they would not make the food the way we wanted it.
The entire experience was a bomb if your wanting the truth of the matter.
If your coming through Springfield for the experience however I recommend it because it does resemble the dinners that would have been on Route 66 and maybe you will have a better experience than we did.
