Wresting is at the top of the industry but will it last by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik

Many people have viewed ENTERTAINMENT WRESTLING as a NON SPORT due to the nature of the business. The fact is ENTERTAINMENT WRESTLING is SCRIPTED. What this means is that the companies that operate write out scripts and they are followed by the entertainers playing a role (JUST LIKE AN ACTOR OR ACTRESS) in a movie or TV Series.

The longest running company is called WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT or WWE. WWE has been around since the early 1950's and  is still the leader in the Entertainment wrestling industry. Recently WWE was sold to ENDEAVOR that is a parent company of the UFC. (Ultimate Fighting Championship)

The sale has not been completed as to date of this blog but WWE and Endeavor will make a new stock called TKO and the companies will merge together under this Stock. Each company has a stock on the NYSE. WWE is under WWE and currently the stock price on  9/4/2023 sat at $104.58 and Endeavor EDR sat at $22.71.

WWE currently has three main shows on television Monday Night Raw,NXT, and Friday Night Smackdown. This does not include pay per views or special shows the WWE  operates. WWE also is involved in some movie production however recently WWE has not been producing movies.

AEW (ALL ELITE WRESTLING) currently is the second largest Entertainment Wrestling company. AEW does not offer stock and is privately owned  and operated by Tony Khan. The company started in 2019 and has been gaining and growing ever since. Currently AEW has three shows on television as well Dynamite, Rampage and Collision. AEW also bought out ROH (RING OF HONOR) and has been working with IMPACT WRESTLING and NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING (NJPW).

Smaller companies like IMPACT WRESTLING ,New Japan Pro Wrestling also are considered the top wrestling companies that operate shows on television and offer fans live shows across the world.

The question asked is:

Can this last forever with all these companies competing for television time and fans?

If you love ENTERTAINMENT WRESTLING this is the best time to be a fan!

If like me you grew up watching wrestling the rise and fall of some older companies like ECW or WCW left one main company up and running until 2019 that was the WWE.  The AEW is the only company since the closing of the WCW (World Championship Wrestling) in 2001 that has managed to compete with the WWE. Many companies are still in operation however they operate in local or small areas. Many of them may be found on local networks, social media, or pay per view channels.

Fighting for television rights and booking live events leaves me to believe that there can only be ONE or TWO top companies in the industry. The companies base revenues on television and live events plus pay per views. The industry has a very large FAN BASE for Entertainment Wrestling  however there are many factors that need to be considered.

The first fact is each company is offering entertainment for the fans, This means they must find entertainers and write story lines the fans will like and follow. It just is a fact like any other sport ( even though this is not considered a sport) there are still injuries that happen, life that happens, age that happens, and the whole industry is built around finding the ENTERTAINERS that will attract the fans.

The second fact is the fans themselves. I get into trouble a lot saying IT IS ABOUT THE FANS, If the fans do not watch the television shows, go to live events, buy the merchandise, watch the pay per views, participate on social media most likely the companies will slowly come to an end. As time goes by fans change as well, society changes, and the companies will need to keep this all in mind to stay on the top of the industry.

It would be nice if we had a crystal ball to see where the WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT  industry will go but as for the moment it is on TOP OF THE WORLD.

This is great for the FANS and the companies!

For the past nearly 2 years my company has been doing a PODCAST and I have continued to write blogs on the events of mostly the WWE and AEW. I have been doing this with my Co Host Lonnie Willis and it has been very enjoyable. If your into a podcast you can find us Here:
