The challenge to me was you can make $300 in a 8 to 9 hour shift on Doordash in Springfield Missouri
This was a challenge that came from a facebook group I am on in Springfield Missouri.
The question was asked was:
Can you make $300 in one day on Doordash in Springfield Missouri?
Of course I love a challenge so here is how it would break down to make $300 in a 8 hour shift.
So here is the breakdown in an 8 hour shift you would have to make $37.50 per hour.
This means every hour I need to make at least 2 deliveries at $18.75.
If I could do 3 deliveries per hour it would be $12.50 per delivery.
So as part of my investigation and research I used a focus group to see how DoorDash works in Springfield Missouri and here is what I found out:
A majority of the group of around 500 drivers work part time, under 40 hours and a majority of the drivers have another source of income such as a full time job.
A majority of the drivers use Doordash as extra income and do not rely on Doordash as main source of income.
The drivers that reported they worked 35 to 40 hours per week stated they averaged between $750.00 to $800.00 per week.
This would indicate they are making between $18 to $ 20 per hour.
Just in my opinion this is a bit high and I believe with my experience and research that making $100 per day in an 8 hour shift is more realistic.
This would make the hourly wage around $12.50 per hour.
A small percent of the drivers contract for multiple delivery companies, but a majority of the drivers only contract for Doordash.
A majority of the drivers agreed that the Springfield, Missouri area is oversaturated with drivers.
The issues with Doordash stem from not being able to get on the regular schedule, only being able to do deliveries when the DASH NOW is available.
The good news is Doordash has signed a new deal with CVC and Walgreens, also there has been no news about the courier service Doordash bought out a few months ago.
WHEN IS DOORDASH THE BEST:
Springfield Missouri has 4 major colleges, however in the summer time they are all on break,
Also Branson is near by 35 miles away. Branson is seasonal as well however.
Springfield is much more busy when the college students are in session, and COVID 19 has helped the delivery business skyrocket.
The graveyard shift may be an option if you like nights, but other than that dinner, lunch, and breakfast are the best shifts,
Doordash has contracts with most popular fast food chains, and some local restaurants, but you as a customer can get food from any restaurant with Doordash.
Delivery in general is usually busier when the weather is a little worse, also does better when events, and other stuff is going on in Springfield.
I will say this it is not impossible to make $300 in one day, nor is it impossible to make $750 to $800 per week. You will however have to dedicate yourself to the time to do the deliveries.
HERE WAS MY 8 HOUR SHIFT EXPERIENCE:
MONDAY OCTOBER 12th 2020
I did not do 8 hours but here is what I did do:
4pm to 5 pm 2 delivers taking 55 minutes and making $10
5pm to 6pm 2 deliveries taking 55 minutes again and making $10
Based on these 2 hours making $10 per hour I would have only made $80 in an 8 hour shift, $220 short of the $300 goal.
TUESDAY OCTOBER 13th 2020:
I did not make it 8 hours again but here is what I did do:
2:40pm to 4:40pm 4 delivers taking 100 minutes out of 120 minutes and making $28.50
5pm to 6:30pm 4 deliveries taking 70 minutes out of 90 minutes and making $25.40
Total made in 3.5 hours was $53.90 (just for math sake we will round up to $54)
Based on the amount made over 3.5 hours it would break down ro $15.42 per hour so if we calculated that by 8 hours it would be $123.26, we would still be $176.74 short of the $300 goal.
