Delivery Driver jobs in Reno and Sparks Nevada by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik

Welcome to my blogs I have posted a few in the past about DELIVERY DRIVER jobs in the RENO and SPARKS NEVADA area.

So here is a current updated version of several blogs I have written about two companies in the Reno and Sparks area called UBER EATS and DOOR DASH.

So here are some facts that you may want before you decide to do this type of work:

Both companies operate of a phone app, and both companies have restaurants they work with in the area.

Both companies cover Reno and Sparks, but Door Dash is adding Carson City in March of 2019.

Door Dash also is currently working with WALMART for home delivery.

With both companies you are an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR or SELF EMPLOYED as that you will need to pay all your STATE,FEDERAL,and UNEMPLOYMENT TAXES.

You will need a vehicle, and have car insurance.

I started blogging about these companies back in September 2018.

LOOK BACK AT MY BLOGS IF YOU WANT!

After my investigation and talking to several people I decided to join both companies and have been working with both companies for a few months.
Therefore my blog is coming from personal experience at this point in time.

HOW MUCH CAN YOU MAKE AND CAN YOU DO THIS FULL TIME?

I covered this in another blog about both companies but here it is from my experience over the past several months. You could make it a full time career however I would warn you that the area is already being over saturated with drivers.
Recently on my experience with DOOR DASH expressly there are times you can not schedule on the app, and there are times no drivers needed.
While DOOR DASH has increased more restaurants in the area it seems that more and more divers are doing this part time or full time.
How I break it down is that to make 14 dollars an hour on Door Dash you would need to do at least 2 deliveries per hour.
The rate they charge for the delivery seems to be  around $7.00 on the average.

UBER EATS however does it completely different charging by the distance of the delivery so your rates can vary.
I believe the average on UBER EATS is around $5.00 per delivery.

Also you need to put you expenses in there as well  such as gas, food, and time it takes to do the entire delivery. I personally have done some 8 to 10 hour shits and yes I did make the $14 an hour average.

GETTING TIPS ON UBER EATS AND DOOR DASH:

Another blog I wrote in the past not specifically on these companies but about TIPPING.
So if you decide to do this I would enable the tips to be added on the app.
However I will warn you after working for  both companies tips on these types of work seem few and far between.
It seems a majority of the customers feel if they pay for a delivery they should not tip the delivery person as well. I came to this conclusion after talking to many other drivers and having open discussions about it on line.
Also from my personal experience of doing this over the past several months.
You may get tips but I would not base my decision on that alone to do this type of work.

RUMORS OF MAKING OVER 20 DOLLARS AN HOUR OR MORE:

Again covered this in another blog so please go back and read them. Short end of the story there are some times when you can make this but seems very limited with either company.

SOME OTHER DIFFERENCES IN THE 2 COMPANIES:

DOOR DASH gives the delivery person a credit card to use to pay for food.
Sometimes you have to pay and sometimes not.
Also as a DOOR DASH  delivery person you may have to oder the food and wait for it to be made.
DOOR DASH does have some set restaurants it uses but the customer can really oder anywhere with DOOR DASH.
DOOR DASH is also doing deliveries of food with WALMART.

UBER EATS does it completely different only working with the contracted restaurants. Also all the food is pre paid and should be ready upon arrival. However sometimes you still have to wait for food.

So here is my final conclusion about being a DELIVERY DRIVER for either company:

While I find it a fun and entertaining job to do I do not think I would base a full time career on it. My reasons are to many delivery people in the area already and the fact that you are SELF EMPLOYED and must pay all  you taxes and Social Security.
Also car maintenance, fuel cost, and more chances of car break down and accidents, or tickets.
Weather and traffic conditions and finding an address at night time is really hard.
You must get in and out of your vehicle, go into several types of business, also than deliver that product to the customer. This includes houses, apartments, condos, mobile homes, business, and other places.
It is a bit of fun if you like driving and meeting new people and exploring your town or city.
I can see doing it part time earning extra money I love to do that!
This is just my opinion on the matter however.

HAVE FUN AND ENJOY WHAT YOU DO!
