Springfield Prom Night for Adults Review by The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik
This prom was on April 7th 20022 located at 601 E Saint Louis Street downtown Springfield MO.
The prom is held by Springfield Sertoma and Wingapalooza. It has been held every year for the last 6 years.
It is advertised as 21 and up and the money is used from the event for kids in the Ozarks.
It usually starts around 8 PM and ends at 1AM, and is at the Springfield Sertoma Club & The Abou Ben Adhem Shirners event center.
The Price of the Prom starts at $35 per ticket that includes music and some food, and advertised drink with price but the beer, wine, or other drinks you have to pay out of pocket for. I was really disappointed that I could not get a water without paying $6 for the bottle. I skipped that but I could have used some water!
We entered the Prom about 8:30 PM the first issue is parking downtown. Not that I mind but we walked several blocks to the entrance. One concern I would have for this event is the road is a high traffic area and people are drinking alcoholic beverages. I recommend going with a group or at least with a friend for safety reasons.
At the door we got greeted politely and asked for ID and we all got to get a wrist band.
There was a long line for photos that we skipped and we entered through 2 doorways that had been decorated with streamers.
There was a large dance floor, the DJ was set up on the stage with lots of strobe lights and smoke coming from the floor area. They had a VIP area and reserved tables for some groups, but unfortunately the only other area to sit was on the seats around the dance floor. There was a back area with some tables to sit and eat the food, plus two areas selling alcoholic beverages, and water!
The alcoholic drinks had to be purchased with tickets at $6 a pop. Not that I minded that because I do not drink anyways. However I saw no water or other beverages available to the guest. I walked up and asked the bartender or cashier about the water and got told I had to buy tickets for the water at $6 as well. This is one thing I would suggest changing. Offering water or other drinks for free would be advisable since there is alcoholic beverages at the event. Also it was advertised on the purchase of the tickets as food and drinks.
They could have easily had an area for free water and charged for sodas.
They had gotten the local Hyee Vee store to set up a spread of food in the back area that I have to admit was pretty impressive. The line was pretty long however after the DJ announced the food was out. It did finally get to a point where as the line was shorter and moving along.
It was a nice spread of food however!
As far as the music it was a GREAT mix of dance music and hits, we all danced the night away on the dance floor.
The crowd had a large age range we saw people from around 21 all the way up in the 80'S dancing on the floor. As the night went along the crowd got larger and we witnessed a few events that come with stupidly.
The first was a girl whom was pretty intoxicated feel on the dance floor, she was okay but mostly just embarrassed.
The second is that some people had attempted to hide behind a black curtain that we had been sitting by and started to take of clothes. We decided to inform the security about that one as it was really inappropriate.
As the night moved onward the effects of alcohol on some became pretty clear as we witnessed some behaviors that I would call questionable.
We stayed till around 10:30 PM and decided we had had a good time and did not want our night ruined by the other things we saw going on around us.
All in all it is a worthy event to think about going to!
