PATRIOTS vs RAMS where are the wagers going ?
One day before the big NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME between the LOS ANGELES RAMS and NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS !
Sports books across Nevada are all on -2 1/2 in favor for the New England Patriots.
I looked and researched not only Nevada because 7 other States have legalized sports wagering. The sports book industry is expecting this year to be the largest amount legally wagered on the NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
More than 1 million people will wager about $325 million nationally!
That would be double the nearly $159 million bet legally last year in just Nevada!
Currently, betters can wager legally in Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, West Virginia, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and at a single tribal casino in New Mexico.
MY PREDICTION was the wagering line moving more towards -3 to -3 1/2 favoring the New England Patriots and some Nevada books this last week did hit the -3 but than the money started to come in towards the Rams and all the book in Nevada as of today 2/2/2019 are at - 2 1/2 favoring the Patriots.
Why do the sports book really not want -3 :
It really would be better for the sports books to stay on - 2 1/2 or go to -3 1/2 because if the Patriots won by exactly 3 points a lot of wagers would be what is called a push.
Meaning that the Patriots did not cover the spread.
This means if people wagered the Patriots at -3 they would be refunded the wager and the people who wagered the Rams at +3 would be paid out.
If the books leave the line at - 2 1/2 or go to -3 1/2 this would allow a payout one way or the other on the point spreads. If the Patriots won by 3 Patriots would be paid out, and if they won by less than 3 the people who wagered the Rams +3 1/2 would be paid out.
Of course I am sure the RAMS have other ideas like winning the game !
It could be possible late money will flow into the books on the RAMS and the line could move the other way leaning towards the RAMS.
However currently in NEVADA about 80 percent of the strait wagers are favoring the PATRIOTS.
So far in New Jersey, about 70 percent of the straight bets favor the Patriots.
SO it seems the wagering is still going to the Patriots as of today!
