What do you know about SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI ?


 In a new series I am doing we will discover things about some cities in the USA. I decided to start with the place I moved to in 2020 SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI.

Springfield Missouri is in the State of Missouri and is considered the 3RD largest city falling behind Saint Louis and Kansas City. Supporting a population of nearly 173,000.

Springfield however also has many smaller towns close by including WILLARD, REPUBLIC, BATTLEFIELD, NIXA,  STRAFFORD, and OZARK.

Springfield is famous for being the BIRTH PLACE OF ROUTE 66, also known as 417 the assigned area code for the city. It is also known for a smaller zoo called DICKERSON PARK ZOO. One of the more popular shopping experiences with the famous PRO BASS SHOP located off Campbell Ave downtown. Springfield also hosts a triple AAA baseball team called the SPRINGFIELD CARDINALS and has a smaller stadium called HASMMONS FIELD, In 2024 Springfield is also adding a new sport and team that is with the Arena Football League called the OZARK LUNGERS.

Springfield is also home to several colleges including MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY. EVANGEL and DRURY University are also located in Springfield.

Like many places in Missouri there are tons of caves to explore but FANTASTIC CAVERNS is located in Springfield. Springfield offers many parks and hiking trails, and outdoor activities including, camping, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor sports as well.

OZARK EMPIRE FAIR GROUNDS is actually located in Springfield and offers many events during the year.

PLACES CLOSE TO SPRINGFIELD:

Located just outside of Springfield on I-44 West in Stafford there is a Wild Life Safari, and currently under construction a new BUC- EE'S GAS STATION about to open. You can follow the old Route 66 all the way from Springfield to Saint Louis. It is about a 4 hour drive going through Lebanon, Rolla, and Cuba along the way. Along the way see Redmond's Candy Factory, Uranus, and the Worlds largest Rocking Chair.

Saint Louis offers many venues and events.

Located about an hour away from Springfield going on I 44 East you will find Joplin. Joplin is a smaller city but offers some Route 66 adventures, and a few casinos on the border.

Kansas City is about 3 hours away from Springfield and there is a lot to find in Kansas City as well. The city hosts the NFL team called the KANSAS CITY CHIEFS.

Another famous place that is only an hour away is called BRANSON. Branson is a tourist attraction offering many attractions including music, theme parks, museums, night life, and more.

There are many State and Federal parks located within a 1 to 2 hour drive of Springfield.

Another close town that is famous is MANSFIELD  that is only about an hour away as well, Famous for the LUARA INGALLS WILDER ESTATE.

There are many lakes streams and other places with in 1 to 2 hours of Springfield as well offering a variety of things to do.
